Puerto Rico Power Outage
2016-09-22
Yesterday, a large fire at a major electricity plant in Puerto Rico created blackout conditions for 75 percent of the islands residents and businesses. The power authority is doing an assessment to determine the extent of the damages and finalize a power recovery plan and as of this morning, the local government reports that they should start recovering power sometime after mid-day. Currently, Crowley’s liner and logistics offices and the San Juan terminal are open and functioning routinely with the support of generators. All systems are up and running, all refrigerated containers are powered and all Crowley barges will be worked on schedule.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will update you as needed, should conditions change.
