“Military to Maritime” Day Scheduled for June 4 in Jacksonville, Fla.

National, state and local maritime companies in Florida, along with maritime associations and partnerships are coming together to host a “Military to Maritime” career information day for current and former military personnel who may be interested in transitioning into a maritime-related field on June 4th, 2014 in Jacksonville, Florida at the Jaxport Cruise terminal. Whether interested in a career ashore with one of the region’s leading transportation and logistics companies, or aboard one of the varied vessels in the capacity of a merchant mariner, event attendees will be given the opportunity to have questions answered; speak with hiring, licensing and union representatives; tour vessels and hear first-hand from current employees and crewmembers about maritime life. Participants are urged to register here

Who: All current and former military service members (all branches)

What: Free career information event on transitioning from the military to a career in a maritime-related field, which can involve merchant marine positions at sea, shoreside support positions, or those positions associated with shipping and logistics.
