Todd Busch Promoted to General Manager of Crowley
(Los ANGELES; Sept. 17, 2003) – Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that Todd Busch has been promoted to general manager of the company’s Southern California ship assist and escort services operations.
Busch, who will relocate from Seattle to San Pedro, Calif., will continue to direct the sales and marketing efforts for all of Crowley’s ship assist and escort business, and will now take on the administrative and operational responsibilities in Southern California where Crowley operates six harbor tugs in the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, and two harbor tugs in the port of San Diego. He will continue to report to Rob Grune, Crowley’s vice president and general manager of ship assist and escort services.
“Todd brings years of maritime experience to his new job,” Grune said. “Not only has he worked on tugs, but he’s served in different tug-related shore-side capacities as well, including tug dispatch and sales and marketing. He also has valuable experience in both contract towing and emergency response.”
“In his new job, Todd will be focusing on new business development, cost control and developing operational efficiencies,” Grune said. “I am confident Todd will be a valuable addition to Crowley’s already strong Southern California team.”
That team recently underwent a reorganization of some office personnel. Specifically, a portion of the company’s tug dispatch operations that had previously been performed out of the San Pedro office were shifted to Crowley’s Seattle office.
“The movement of some of our San Pedro dispatch responsibilities to Seattle is simply a way for us to ensure that we continue to give our customers the highest level of tug service at the most cost competitive prices,” Busch said. “So far, this move has made us more efficient and the transition has been seamless to the customer.”
Busch has been working for Crowley for 16 years and was recently awarded the Thomas B. Crowley award, the highest honor a Crowley employee can receive. Busch serves as a director on the board of the Marine Response Alliance LLC. Prior to joining Crowley, Busch sailed with the Southwest Alaska Pilots Association. He attended Arizona State University and holds two licenses: Master, 100 Gross Tons Inspected Vessels, and Mate, 200 Gross Tons Inspected Vessels.
