Hurricane Irma Weather Update #5

As Hurricane Irma continues its course, we are seeing disruptions with many of our services throughout the Caribbean Basin, including Central America.

Safety is Crowley’s No. 1 core value, and as such we are taking all appropriate steps to ensure the safety of personnel, including our mariners, all of our vessels and your cargo.  We are coordinating with our vessels to review their routes and plans to keep them well clear of the storm. Our Crowley team has made appropriate preparations at shore-side facilities to protect the safety of personnel, equipment and cargo.

The Port of San Juan, PR is still closed to inbound and outbound vessel traffic.  However, our San Juan terminal is open today and will close at 1500 EST.  We expect the terminal will resume normal operations at 0700 EST tomorrow, Friday, September 8th.

Hurricane Irma’s impact on the Leeward Islands, the British Virgin Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands is being assessed, however all facilities remain closed at this time.

In the western Caribbean, Haiti, Cuba, and Jamaica terminals are currently open.  The Dominican Republic offices remain closed until further notice.

The port of Port Everglades, FL, is open and operating under U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Condition X-Ray which indicates that gale force winds are expected in the area within the next 48 hours.  The Crowley terminal will close at 1900 EST today and will remain closed through Friday.  Our Port Everglades and Miami offices and warehouses will be closed on Friday, September 8th.

The port of Jacksonville is expected to set Condition X-Ray at 2000 EST today.  Crowley’s Jacksonville terminal will remain open through Friday, September 8th and will be closed on Saturday, September, 9th.  Our Jacksonville offices and warehouses will be closed Friday, however our Customer Support Center will be available during normal business hours.

The FEC rail terminal in Port Everglades, FL remains closed until further notice.  Norfolk Southern rail terminal in Atlanta, GA is no longer accepting cargo bound for Ft.  Lauderdale, FL.  The Jacksonville rail operations are closed for in-gate cargo, and out-gate will close at 1700 EST tomorrow, Friday, September 8th.
