Sears, SC Johnson and Ford Recognize Crowley for Outstanding Service
(Jacksonville, Fla., May 16, 2001) – In recent months Crowley Maritime Corporation has received recognition for outstanding service from some of the world’s best known and respected companies, including Sears, Ford and SC Johnson.
The company’s liner services group was named a Sears Partner in Progress for 2000 and received recognition from SC Johnson for customer service excellence. In addition, Crowley’s logistics group in Venezuela received Ford Motor Company of Venezuela’s prestigious Silver Award for supplier excellence in the non-productive supplier category.
The prestigious Sears Partners in Progress Award is presented annually to a select group of vendor companies that supply Sears, Roebuck and Co. with quality products and services from apparel, appliances and tools, to marketing, transportation services and technology. More than 10,000 sources competed for this award in 2000. Begun almost 20 years ago, the Partners In Progress program recognizes sources that make significant contributions to the growth of Sears businesses and the creation of new ways to better serve Sears customers. The winners were selected from nominations submitted by Sears store support organization.
Sears, Roebuck and Co. is a leading U.S. retailer of apparel, home and automotive products and services, with annual revenue of more than $40 billion. The company serves families across the country through approximately 860 department stores, approximately 2,100 specialized retail locations, and a variety of online offerings accessible through the company’s website at www.sears.com.
Crowley was the only logistics provider among 100 awardees in Venezuela who was recognized by Ford with the Silver Award for supplier excellence in the non-productive supplier category. According to Marco Morales, purchasing manager for Ford Venezuela, Crowley was nominated for the award because of the outstanding Colombia Lead Logistics Provider (LLP) service and trucking operations it provided Ford Venezuela during 2000. Crowley continues to provide these services to Ford on an ongoing basis.
Ford’s criteria for the Silver Award included operating with less than a 20 percent internal customer claim rate, providing on-time service and delivery of materials and exhibiting a commitment to providing quality service.
Crowley manages a wide array of logistics services for Ford in Venezuela ranging from freight forwarding in the U.S. to the transport of inbound and outbound container loads, and transport & customs brokerage for all material coming from Colombia to Fords plant in Valencia, Venezuela and to its plant in Bogota, Colombia.
“We recognize the hard work put forth by Crowley and commend the company on its efforts to make the Colombia LLP project happen,” Morales said. “Crowley is the kind of supplier Ford wants to do business with.”
