Rudy Leming Named Vice President of Crowley’s Caribbean and Bahamas Service
(Jacksonville, Fla.; Jan. 30, 2006) – Crowley announced today that Rudy Leming has accepted the position of vice president, Caribbean and Bahamas service, a part of Crowley’s liner services segment. In his new position, Leming will be domiciled in Crowley’s Jacksonville office and will report to Rob Grune, senior vice president and general manager Puerto Rico/Caribbean Services.
Leming began his career with Crowley in 1984 when the company purchased Delta Lines. He was transferred to port operations at Petty’s Island, N.J., and worked his way up from maintenance manager to terminal manager to director of port operations before being transferred to Jacksonville as director of port operations in 1997. In 2000, Leming was promoted to vice president of operations where he remained until this current announcement. Leming is a past recipient of the Thomas Crowley Trophy, Crowley Maritime Corporation’s highest honor.
“Rudy is a longtime employee of Crowley with a strong operational background,” Grune said. “This will prove to be invaluable in his new role. I look forward to Rudy bringing his energy and fresh ideas to the Caribbean Island Service. We believe that there is growth potential for Crowley in this service and we’ll be looking to him to turn those ideas into reality.”
Before joining Crowley, Leming attended school at New Jersey’s Mercer and Brookdale Junior Colleges on basketball scholarships. A knee injury ended his basketball career and he went to work in the maritime industry in 1976 on the docks in Port Elizabeth, New Jersey. Over the years, he has performed shipside surveys, cargo handling services and equipment maintenance for a variety of companies.
