Holly Ridge Center Receives Generous Donation From Crowley Cares!

(Bremerton, Wash.; October 3, 2012) – Holly Ridge Center, a local nonprofit agency that has successfully provided early intervention services to children with developmental delays and employment services to adults with disabilities for more than 49 years throughout the Kitsap-Olympic Peninsulas, was selected to receive a $750 donation on behalf of the Crowley Cares! Committee of Crowley Maritime Corporation.

Crowley Maritime Corporation, a Jacksonville, Fla.-based worldwide marine transportation and logistics services company with a long-standing regional office in Seattle, promotes employee volunteerism through its Crowley Cares! philanthropic program. Crowley Cares! supports Crowley’s mission to give back to the community by working with local charitable organizations to make a difference through avenues including mentoring, volunteering, fundraising and financial assistance. Crowley supports the communities near its offices throughout the U.S., including Seattle, Houston, Los Angeles, Jacksonville and Miami, and in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Central America.

“Crowley takes pride in the opportunity to make a difference in the community,” said Tom Crowley Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Crowley Maritime Corp. “Between our scholarship program, which has provided more than half-a-million dollars in scholarships to more than 200 students since 1984, and Crowley Cares!, our employees have made a tremendous impact in the communities they serve in our locations across the U.S. and in Central America and the Caribbean.”

Stephen Gatz, a Seattle-based Crowley Maritime Corporation employee, and his wife April Gatz learned of the corporation’s generous philanthropic program and submitted a donation request for Holly Ridge Center stating the importance of the agency’s involvement within the Kitsap community. Holly Ridge Center is the only program of its kind in the area and state budget decreases have forced program cutbacks.  “Our daughter Anastacia was diagnosed as developmentally delayed, so we began services at Holly Ridge Center. Anastacia receives therapies provided by occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech language pathologists to help develop her gross and fine motor skills. Without HRC, our lives would be much harder and our little girl would have no hope of starting school with other kids her own age,” said April Gatz.

“We commend Holly Ridge Center for the work that they do and hope that this donation will help to further support the efforts of the organization,” states the Crowley Cares! Committee.
