Crowley in Supporting Role with New James Bond film Quantum of Solace

(Jacksonville, Fla.; Feb. 26, 2008) – Crowley Maritime Corporation’s liner services group was recently contracted to play a behind-the-scenes role in the upcoming James Bond flick Quantum of Solace.

Crowley transported movie trailers, catamaran boats and other production equipment from Port Everglades, Fla., to Panama where a portion of the movie was being filmed. The recent transport marks Crowley’s recurring role in the James Bond movie franchise. This week Crowley successfully transported the equipment from Panama back to Port Everglades.

“Crowley has a positive and proven track record with us. In 2006, they transported equipment to us for the James Bond Casino Royale film,” said Mark Davies, President of Gulfstream Film LLC. “In order to meet the ever demanding shooting schedule, I need a company that has a what ever it takes attitude and Crowley provides this with outstanding customer service together with excellent transportation and logistics that I can count on.”

Crowley is an industry leader in transporting unique, oversized and often valuable cargoes.

Recently, Crowley transported a $2 million 1936 Duesenberg V-12 roadster, the only one known to exist in the world, between the United States and Puerto Rico. The company has also transported roller-coasters, cement batch plants, TV production equipment for the Regis and Kelly Show, concert equipment for R&B and soul singer-songwriter Alicia Keys and satellite broadcasting equipment for the Miss America Pageant.

Quantum of Solace is the 22nd spy film in EON Productions, a London-based film production company known for producing the James Bond franchise. The film follows Bond, played by British actor Daniel Craig, as he battles Dominic Greene a member of an organization called Green Planet. In the film Bond seeks revenge for the death of Vesper Lynd while preventing Greene from staging a coup d’tat in a Latin American country. The title was chosen from an unrelated short story, Quantum of Solace, in Ian Fleming’s 1960 novel For Your Eyes Only. The film is scheduled for release in November.
