Crowley Alaska Scholarship Presented to University of Puget Sound Business School Student

(Anchorage, Alaska; April 7, 2004) – Continuing its support of students wishing to pursue higher education, Crowley Maritime Corporation recently presented Pavian Grinage with a scholarship to assist in his education at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash.

Grinage is a sophomore in the business school where he is earning a degree in business while pursuing a minor in economics.

Crowley began awarding scholarships though Arctic Education Foundation in 2003. The scholarship was founded to provide financial support to Native Alaskan residents. The Foundation’s selection committee chooses the scholarship recipient in December of each year based on diversity and a field of study in either transportation or business.

Over the years, Crowley Chairman, President and CEO, Tom Crowley Jr., a UW graduate, has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to deserving students at select institutions from Alaska to Puerto Rico in the name of his father, Thomas B. Crowley Sr., who guided the company to extraordinary heights before passing away in 1994.

Oakland-based Crowley Maritime Corp., founded in 1892, is primarily a family- and employee-owned company engaged in worldwide logistics, liner services, contract towing and transportation, energy support services, ship assist and escort services, vessel management and petroleum and chemical marine transport.
