Amiee Cords Joins Crowley as Director of Corporate Information Technology Systems

(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.; January 12, 2011) – Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that Amiee Cords has joined Crowley as the new director of corporate information technology (IT) systems. She is domiciled at company headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla., and will report to Gary Jones, vice president of IT.

In this role Cords has strategic oversight for the financial and human resources (HR) systems, as well as for the company’s other corporate services departments, including risk management, safety, legal, and others. Ultimately, she will provide the strategic vision to improve efficiency and provide enhancements for these corporate IT systems.

For Crowley vendors and customers this means that improvements to the company’s financial system will simplify billing, and will also provide consolidated billing, online tracking and payment histories.

Of particular importance, Cords will be responsible for identifying the technology needs of Crowley’s risk and safety departments, and will develop the strategy for improving the data that can assist Crowley in being a safer place to work.

“Amiee has a wealth of experience, primarily in financial and HR systems,” said Jones. “We look forward to the improvements we will be able to make as a result of her expertise. She’ll be helping to shape the future of our corporate systems, which will help to provide better services to vendors and our employees.”

Cords served as the IT director for Direct Energy in Houston, Texas, from 2007 until recently. She served as IT director the following organizations: from 2004 to 2007 for Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, Calif.; from 2000 to 2004 for Qwest Communications in Denver, Colo.; and from 1996 to 2000 for Ameritech in Hoffman Estates, Ill. She holds a bachelors degree in economics from the University of Minnesota, and has advanced education in information management systems.
