Crowley to Launch Third Sailing in U.S. Gulf

(JACKSONVILLE, FL; May 9, 2007) Crowley Maritime Corporation announced today that its liner services unit will add a third, weekly, fixed-day sailing effective May 18 between Gulfport, Miss. and the Central America northern zone countries of Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador.

Crowley had been serving the trade in the Gulf with vessels leaving Gulfport on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but will now sail on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. With this move, the Hansaland will join the Crowley Sun and the Ro/Ro Gothica to provide the third sailing. Ships in the northern zone service call in Santo Tomas, Guatemala and Puerto Cortes, Honduras. Overland service is provided to Nicaragua and El Salvador.

Crowleys enhancement of this service is a direct response to customers need for more shipping options to and from the Northern Zone of Central America, said Charlie Dominguez, Crowley vice president of sales and marketing. This change represents a 22% increase in Crowleys weekly capacity for the trade lane, and further demonstrates Crowleys commitment to speed to market through frequent, reliable, Ro/Ro service with fast transits and a choice of gateways either South Florida or the U.S. Gulf.

Like Crowleys other Ro/Ro vessels in its Central America trade, the Hansaland can accommodate Crowleys full complement of equipment, including popular 45-foot (102 wide) trailers, 20- and 40-foot garment-on-hangar containers, and 20-foot standard and 40-foot high-cube refrigerated containers. The Hansaland is a 180 TEU ship with car decking for 30 regular automobiles. This ship is outfitted with plugs for 30 refrigerated containers and can accommodate an additional 30 with a power pack.
