550 Class Articulated Tug Barges (ATBs)
The 550 Class ATBs were developed and designed specifically for West Coast operations and weather conditions, with advanced safety features such as double hulls, IGS, segregated ballast and radar gauging systems. They offer proven reliability and performance, with the best achievable technology available today. We currently have four 550 Class ATBs in operation on the West Coast.
Design Highlights
- Twin screw 9,280 hp tug with Intercon notch connection
- Proven design for West Coast bar crossings
- Barge meets ABS SafeHull criteria
- ATB unit meets criteria for USCG dual mode ITB designation (NVIC 2-81)
- Double hull configuration for barge
- 4 cargo pumps with a 5,000 bbl/hour discharge capacity
- Sumped cargo tanks allowing for minimal cargo ROB
- Remote readout gauging system and real-time Cargo-Max stress monitoring
- 2 ballast pumps, each rated at 5,000 bbl/hour
- Dual Main Vapor recovery system and IGS system
- 2 Cargo booms with 10-ton lift capacity
- Mooring system with 9 each 1,000-foot spectra type (plasma) lines on split drums, capable of recovery at 100ft/min and 10 each capstans for additional lines if required
- 1 anchor windlass with 10 shots of chain and 9520# Danforth anchor stowed in recessed pocket
- Barge equipped with 4 Yokohama docking fenders for ship lightering operations
- Barge meets OCIMF and ISCOTT requirements
