Terminals

Shore-based logistics and port operations to ensure offshore success.

As a maritime and logistics leader in the U.S, Caribbean and Central America, we successfully own and/or operate some of the most efficient deepwater marine terminals in the Americas along with the vessels that frequent them. We are directly transferring that knowledge to invest in, build, and operate highly utilized and automated terminal facilities in support of offshore wind.

Whether it’s new quayside or greenfield construction, upgrades and modifications to existing port infrastructure or ongoing general maintenance, our team utilizes our skillset to marshal the appropriate equipment, personnel/crew and materials from the supply chains, and deliver them to the right place in time for deployment.

MASSACHUSETTS

The Salem Offshore Wind Terminal is a public-private partnership among Crowley, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), and the City of Salem. We’ve secured the long-term use of 42 acres in Salem, Massachusetts to develop and operate the state’s second major offshore wind port terminal. The terminal will be a logistics and operations center for turbine pre-assembly, transportation, staging activities and storage of assembly components. The Salem Offshore Wind Terminal exemplifies our capability to provide comprehensive solutions, including the development of strategically located ports that serve as logistics hubs for the construction and maintenance of wind energy farms. This project is a public-private partnership between Crowley, the City of Salem, and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (Mass CEC).

The redevelopment of the former Salem Harbor Station, a decommissioned coal-fired energy plant, will create more than 800 jobs (FTE job years) to support the construction and staging of wind projects and daily operations. Construction of the wind terminal is expected to start in the third quarter of 2024, with completion anticipated in 2026.
