MARAD / RFF Vessels

Crowley operates many vessels for the U.S. Government in the Maritime Administration’s (MARAD) Ready Reserve Fleet (RRF). The MARAD vessels that Crowley operates are pre-positioned in locations throughout the country: Baltimore, MD, Tacoma, WA, Long Beach, CA, Houston, TX, and Charelston, SC. RRF vessels are typically manned by a small maintenance crew in these locations and have to be capable of full crew activation on short notice.

We accept resumes for all licensed (USCG unlimited tonnage Mate, Engineer, and Radio Operator) and unlicensed shipboard positions. All positions require an STCW 95 certification. Employees are subject to random drug testing and a comprehensive physical. Crowley has collective bargaining agreements with the American Maritime Officers, Marine Engineers Beneficiary Association, and the Seafarers International Union for these vessels, varying with location and position.
