Tropical Storm Erika Customer Update #2

2015-08-27

Crowley’s corporate emergency management team (CEMT) continues to monitor Tropical Storm Erika, which has formed in the Atlantic. The official forecast continues to strengthen the storm into a hurricane by Monday morning, with a projected path towards Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Florida.

Erika is moving toward the west near 16 mph (26 km/h). A turn toward the west-northwest is forecast later today, and this general motion should continue for the next 48 hours. On the forecast track, the center of Erika will move near the Virgin Islands later today, move near or north of Puerto Rico tonight, and pass north of the north coast of the Dominican Republic on Friday.

For safety reasons, Crowley’s marine operations have adjusted vessel routes and schedules. Terminals are implementing plans as USCG port conditions are set. San Juan, Puerto Rico offices for both Liner and Logistics will be ceasing all operations today at 2:30 p.m. EST. We will plan to reopen tomorrow mid-morning for normal business, depending on the extent of the impacts from the storm and once we receive clearance by our corporate emergency management and operations teams, and local port authorities.
