Crowley to Launch New, Dedicated, Direct, Weekly Ro/Ro Service Between Port Everglades, Fla. and Kingston, Jamaica

2000-01-07

(Jacksonville, Fla.; January 4, 2000) Crowley Liner Services announced today it will launch a new, dedicated, direct, weekly Roll/on Roll/off (Ro/Ro) service between Port Everglades, Fla., and Kingston, Jamaica, beginning January 7, 2000. The new service, previously handled through Crowleys Central America Southern Zone Service, will reduce transit times and increase capacity for customers shipping between Port Everglades and Kingston.

Weve dedicated a Ro/Ro vessel specifically for this service in order to accommodate customers shipping increased cargo volumes both northbound and southbound, said Rinus Schepen, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Latin America. With weekly departures on Friday evenings from Port Everglades, customers will have ample time to deliver time-sensitive cargo for arrival in Kingston on Monday mornings. Conversely, departures from Kingston on Mondays will make it possible for shipments to arrive in Port Everglades on Thursdays.

Headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., Crowley Liner Services provides cargo common carrier services between Canada, the United States, and Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Oakland-based Crowley Maritime Corp., founded in 1892.
