Nationwide Strike in Nicaragua: June 21 Update

2018-06-21

Civil unrest in Nicaragua continues to escalate. At this time, future negotiations between opposing parties have been cancelled. There continues to be violence in the streets and clashes between police and anti-government protesters. Business is being significantly impacted as some companies are temporarily curtailing parts of their operations.

Access to our Tipitapa container yard is limited. Many roads throughout the country are either completely closed, or are being impacted by reduced traffic flows. Our operations personnel are reviewing alternate routes with our safety and security departments to determine the best way to move cargo.  All cargo previously received by Crowley is being held safely at our terminals, or within our designated container yards.

While the situation remains highly fluid, the safety of our employees, equipment and your cargo remains our top priority. Local employees are working to both minimize the impact of this event on your supply chain, and monitor developments.

We will distribute further information as it becomes available.
