Low Sulfur Fuel Charge – Recap of Upcoming Changes

Crowley must comply with new regulations regarding the implementation of the Low Sulfur Fuel Requirement as mandated to all Ocean Carriers operating within the North American, Puerto Rico, and USVI Environmental Control Areas (ECA). This new regulation requires all vessels within 200 miles from the United States and 50 nautical miles of the Virgin Islands to be compliant with utilizing higher cost fuel with a sulfur content not exceeding 0.1% m/m (1,000 ppm).
The Low Sulfur Fuel charge was implemented or existing charges adjusted for the Caribbean and Latin America Services. Summary of the changes:

· A Low Sulfur Fuel Charge was implemented effective November 30, 2014 for cargo between the United States and Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, Montserrat, Nevis, Saba, St Bart’s, St Eustatius, St Kitts, St Maarten, St Vincent, Tortola, Trinidad, Virgin Gorda, St Croix, St Thomas, and St John USVI.
