Hurricane Dorian – Update 10

UPDATE 10 – 09/02/2019 – 1800 hrs.

Safety remains our primary focus.  We are working with the U.S. Coast Guard, local Port Authorities and other industry voices as Hurricane Dorian approaches the eastern coast of Florida, to ensure all personnel, vessels, facilities, and your cargo, remain safe.

San Juan Vessel Operations:

The M/V El Coqui (SAL9069S) arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico from Jacksonville as scheduled this morning. Our terminal personnel worked the vessel throughout the Labor Day holiday, discharging then reloading cargo for the vessel’s northbound sailing later tonight to Jacksonville. The vessel will maintain a safe distance from the storm throughout its voyage. El Coqui is anticipated to arrive on-time Friday in Jacksonville and turn for an on-time departure.

Jacksonville Vessel Operations:

The M/V Taino (SAL9070S) was scheduled to depart Jacksonville on Tuesday, Sept. 3, for San Juan. The vessel is currently offshore maintaining a safe distance from the storm until given the all clear to reenter port by authorities. As a function of the storm, this MV Taino southbound sailing has been cancelled. Cargo scheduled for this sailing will be moved to the M/V El Coqui (SAL9071S) scheduled to depart on Friday, Sept 6. Additionally, we have the El Conquistador (SAL9936S) scheduled to depart later this week.

Port Everglades Terminal and Vessel Operations:

As of Sunday, Sept. 1 at 1800, all vessel operations have been suspended and our terminal is currently closed. The following vessels are currently at sea maintaining a safe distance from Hurricane Dorian while awaiting clearance to reenter and berth.

• M/V Pegasus J, voyage DOM9035N, was originally scheduled to arrive from Rio Haina, Dominican Republic and Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Sunday
• M/V Paradero, voyage NZV9105S, was originally scheduled to depart Monday, Sept. 2, for Puerto Cortes, Honduras and Santo Tomas, Guatemala. Once the Port Everglades terminal is reopened by authorities, the vessel will enter to discharge northbound cargo. The southbound voyage of M/V Paradero will then be combined with the southbound voyage of M/V Pavo J (NZV9106S), which is scheduled for an on-time departure on Thursday, Sept. 4
• M/V Varamo, voyage SZV9034N, was originally scheduled to arrive from Panama and Costa Rica for northbound cargo discharge tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 3

Jacksonville Terminal:

As of today, Monday, Sept. 2, all vessel operations have been suspended and our terminal is currently closed. We are closely monitoring the storm’s track to determine the viability of safely resuming operations later this week.

This is an extremely powerful hurricane. We will continue to coordinate with our vessels to keep them clear of the storm’s path and with our shoreside personnel to protect people, facilities, equipment and cargo. As the storm track moves towards the eastern coast of Florida, we will provide further updates.
