Crowley Caribbean Services Low Sulfur Fuel Charge – Between San Juan and the Caribbean eff December 7, 2014
2014-11-05
Crowley must comply with new regulations regarding the implementation of the Low Sulfur Fuel Requirement as mandated to all Ocean Carriers operating within the North American and Puerto Rico & USVI Environmental Control Areas (ECA). This new regulation requires all vessels within 200 miles from the United States and 50 nautical miles of the Virgin Islands to be compliant with utilizing higher cost fuel with a sulfur content not exceeding 0.1% m/m (1,000 ppm).
As a result, a Low Sulfur Fuel Charge will be implemented effective December 7, 2014 covering all cargo between San Juan, PR and the Caribbean service lanes to offset the additional costs associated with the purchase of the required fuel. The Low Sulfur Fuel (LSF) will be applicable on all shipments between San Juan, PR and the Caribbean including St Thomas, St Croix and St John, USVI. The LSF will apply to all open tariff and contract shipments.
