Costa Rica Terminal Handling Charge Increase Effective Feb 1,2019
12/11/2018
The Ministry of Transportation of Costa Rica has granted a port concession to APM Terminals and will require all container carriers to shift their port calls from the Port Limon Terminal to the Port Moin Terminal in early 2019. In addition to this transition, the Costa Rican government has accepted the port tariff proposed by APM Terminals resulting in substantially higher terminal charges.
Crowley will be passing through these increased costs with the Costa Rica Terminal Handling Charges for containerized equipment as per the table below. These charges will be effective February 1, 2019 and will apply to all Crowley service contracts and governing tariffs.
Out-of-gauge and breakbulk cargo pricing terms will be changed to Free In/Free Out at Port Moin Terminal with terminal charges assessed directly by Moin Container Terminal to the account on record for the cargo.
| Equipment | Direction | Previous Charge | New Charge | Increase |
| All Containerized Equipment | Northbound | $125 | $350 | $225 |
| All Containerized Equipment | Southbound | $180 | $405 | $225 |
