Dear Valued Customer:

The truckers in Puerto Rico met with the government officials yesterday. According to today’s news accounts in Puerto Rico, the government granted most of the truckers demands. Negotiations were locked when the truckers requested an immediate 10% rate increase on their inland tariff. The government of Puerto Rico advised that due to the economic impacts this would have, more analysis is needed. The strike remains in effect at this time.

Dear Valued Customer:

We have now been advised that the truckers in Puerto Rico will strike on Wednesday, July 20th. The extent or duration of the strike has not yet been determined. We can expect that the ability to make deliveries and pick-ups from the ocean terminals will be adversely impacted while the strike is in effect.

The terminal will be open until 9 PM today, Tuesday, July 19th. We will maintain our terminal hours from 6 AM until 6 PM for any trucker to pick up or drop off cargo starting tomorrow.

We will inform any further developments as they become available.

Dear Valued Customer:

A press conference was held today at 11 AM by representatives of the truckers in Puerto Rico. They did not indicate their decision on whether they will strike Wednesday the 20th. They did advise that they have not reached agreement with the government of Puerto Rico on the issues that they are discussing.

We will continue with our plan to keep our gate open today in San Juan until 8 PM. We expect to operate our vessels as usual.

We will inform any further developments as they become available.

Dear Valued Customer:

Crowley has been monitoring a potential trucking industry strike in Puerto Rico. A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday July 19th at 9 AM among trucking industry representatives in San Juan. This meeting is to discuss issues that the trucking industry in Puerto Rico wants addressed and to decide if they have the support of all their constituents for a strike. The issues in question are unrelated to Crowley. Results of those meetings are expected to be made public at around 11 AM Tuesday.

There is a good possibility that a strike will take place beginning on Wednesday the 20th. As a result, Crowley in San Juan will extend it’s gate hours on Tuesday the 19th. We will open the gate at 5 AM and not close it before 8 PM.

Vessels will continue to operate as usual.

We will continue to monitor the situation and advise any further developments. If you have any questions, please contact your Crowley Sales Representative or our Customer Service Department.
