Crowley’s Corporate Emergency Management team is monitoring Tropical Storm Gordon, which is currently moving across the eastern Gulf of Mexico tonight and Tuesday. According to the latest weather advisory by StormGeo, the storm will move near Gulfport, MS around 10 p.m. tomorrow night, September 4, with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph.
Safety is Crowley’s No.1 core value, and as such we are taking all appropriate steps to ensure safety of personnel, including our mariners, vessels and your cargo. We are coordinating with our vessels to keep them clear of the storm. Our Crowley team, has made appropriate preparations at shore-side facilities to protect people, equipment and cargo.
-
Gulfport is currently open under condition Yankee, which means that gale force winds are predicted within 24 hours and ports are closed to all inbound vessel traffic.
-
At 8 a.m. CST, on Tuesday, September 4, our Gulfport terminal will be in a modified condition Zulu, until noon time. This means that gale force winds are predicted within 12 hours. Until this time, import cargo can be picked up.
-
After noon time, we are expected to be in full Zulu. The port and terminal will both be closed and all activities, including vessel traffic, to cease at that time, pending USCG assessment.
We will continue to update you as port conditions change, and as the trajectory of the storm develops. For the latest information on our sailing schedule, please visit www.crowley.com.
