Setting of LNG Engine in New Ship

2016-03-29

You will be pleased to know that we have reached another critical milestone in the construction of our two LNG-powered, Commitment Class ships, which will be delivered in 2017 for use between the U.S. mainland and Puerto Rico. The main engine for El Coqui has been installed at VT Halter Marine in Pascagoula, Mississippi, using a series of heavy lifts by 500-ton cranes. The engine weighs 759 metric tons and measures 41 feet high, 41 feet long, and 14.7 feet wide. A short video updating our construction progress can be found here (and here in Spanish).

It is our pleasure to share these exciting developments with you. To learn more about this key milestone you can read our full news release here.
