Honduras Inspection Alert#1

Dear Valued Customer,
Please be advised that last week Crowley was notified of a potential insect concern discovered by the Honduran Authorities.   The Kudzu bug (Megacopta cribraria) was detected in cargo containers entering into Honduras. This concern has led the Honduran government entity named SEPA to mandate inspections for a select group of cargo originating from the states of Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Alabama.

While the inspection by SEPA will concentrate on the selected containers, all cargo originating from Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama will be held at the port until the inspection of the selected containers is complete.  If the inspected containers are found to be infected, fumigation will be performed immediately.  Only after all cargo has been cleared by SEPA will the containers be released and scheduled for either pickup or delivery.  All cargo subjected to inspection and/or fumigation will be subject to additional charges.

As of today, we have also been notified that the Government in Guatemala will institute a similar requirement on all cargo coming from the above mention states.  Further details will be provided as more information becomes available.

We want to assure you, our valued customers, that we will do everything in our power to limit the disruption to your supply chain. We thank you for your patience as we work with all parties involved to expedite the cargo release and delivery.
