Puerto Rico Chassis Usage Charge – Trade Announcement

Dear Valued Customer,

Crowley will be implementing a Chassis Usage Charge for use of carrier owned chassis beyond our terminal in San Juan. The Chassis Usage Charge will apply to all shipments between the US & PR and the Caribbean & PR. 

Rule Name:  Puerto Rico Chassis Usage Charge
Rule Effective Date:  January 1, 2013

Inbound shipments to Puerto Rico, the Chassis Usage Charge will be billed to the consignee.  Outbound shipments from Puerto Rico, the Chassis Usage Charge will be billed to the shipper. 

Chassis Usage Charge:  $15 per day
Applicable Equipment Size / Types:  All equipment sizes / types utilizing carrier chassis

The Chassis Usage Charge will be assessed, per chassis, per day including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays beginning the day the chassis is out gated from the terminal.  The fee will be assessed until the chassis is returned to Crowley’s terminal in San Juan.

Chassis Usage Charge will apply to all contract and open tariff shipments (inbound and outbound).

Special Note:  Containers and trailers remain subject to all free time and demurrage rules as per governing tariffs. 

Reefers and 53FT equipment are not eligible to be transferred to shipper/consignee supplied chassis at the terminal in San Juan.
