New Puerto Rico Vessel Fuel Index

2015-12-16

Effective January 15, 2016, the Vessel Fuel Charge (Tariff CPRC602) associated with all shipments between the United States East Coast and Puerto Rico will be subject to change as per the Vessel Fuel Index herein further described.

Crowley will monitor the price per metric ton of New York MGO on Bunkerworld.com and on January 15, 2016, (and every 15th of the month thereafter) will average the prices over the last 30 days. This average will be used in conjunction with the index table below to determine if an adjustment in the current fuel charge is necessary. Adjustments will be made on the 1st day of the following month.

The current Vessel Fuel Charges are as follows:

Vehicles

20′

40′

45′

48′

53′

Not in Container

$60

$155

$230

$255

$270

$315

$230

Here is an example of how the new review process will work. The current vessel fuel charges fall in the $420 – $439 price range tier (highlighted in blue below). If on January 15 the 30-day average price of New York MGO is $390, then the fuel charges will be adjusted to the amounts corresponding to the price range tier of $380 – $399 listed in the index table below (highlighted in orange). Based on this example, the fuel charge for a 53’ would adjust from $315 to $285 per container on February 1.
