Public Demonstrations in Haiti – September 2022

Please be advised that several demonstrations and civil unrest has taken place this week in Haiti since the afternoon of Monday, September 12, 2022 and continues to escalate. Yesterday and today, public and private institutions have remained closed due to riots/violent manifestations in the streets throughout the Capital City of Port-au-Prince as well as in the provinces. This is creating challenges for cargo movements throughout the country, affecting inland transportation for both southbound and northbound cargo to access and depart the terminal.

At this time, cargo scheduled for M/V K Storm voyage DOM2030S, departed Port Everglades, Fla., on September 14. Due to the civil unrest, the vessel will not stop in Haiti and cargo loaded and destined to Haiti will instead discharge in Rio Haina, DR., arriving on Saturday, September 17. The cargo will connect with our next voyage in Rio Haina, DOM2031S on September 25 arriving into Haiti on September 27.

While the situation remains highly fluid, safety remains Crowley’s top priority and as such, our operations team has been monitoring the events and has taken all appropriate steps to ensure the safety of our personnel, facilities and your cargo. We are also monitoring the weather and any storm systems that could impact this area and our current logistics plans.
