We know many of you are concerned about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Conditions are extremely challenging. Here is what we are doing to respond and how you may be able to help.

We have increased our capacity to serve these markets by chartering five additional vessels that will enable life-sustaining and infrastructure restoration supplies to reach Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

In San Juan, Puerto Rico, our team is working closely with relief and government agencies to continue to transport, receive and distribute water, food and other relief items as fast as it arrives at the terminal to support the island’s recovery. Crowley has moved more than 700 govenment relief loads and we are planning to off-load an additional 210 loads this weekend, with another 1,000 loads ready to ship from Jacksonville, FL. In addition, Crowley is scheduled to move emergency and disaster recovery vehicles and fuel trucks to San Juan, PR. As more truck power becomes available, we are also collaborating with our customers to unload and return empty containers so that we can bring more cargo to the island.

To facilitate the process of picking up cargo and returning empties, our Crowley San Juan, Puerto Rico terminal will be open extended hours this Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1, from 0800 to 1630 EST . In addition, our San Juan, Puerto Rico warehouse will be open this Saturday, September 30, from 0800 to noon EST.

Our U.S. Virgin Islands terminals in St. Thomas and St. Croix are operating normally, but are currently at full capacity with loaded containers of food, water, relief supplies, and other cargo. As is the case in Puerto Rico, we urge our customers who are able to pick up their cargo, to do so as soon as possible to allow space for additional loads coming in. We also need your help expediting the return of empty containers.
