Crowley Quality Documented in Venezuela and South Florida with ISO 9002 Certification

(Jacksonville, Fla., February 23, 2000) Crowley Logistics de Venezuela and Crowley Liner Services Miami warehouse, apparel freight services operation and Port Everglades terminal have been added to Crowleys growing list of ISO 9002 certified facilities and operations.

Other areas certified include Crowleys Jacksonville terminal and freight services center, Pennsauken, N.J. terminal, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, terminal and freight services operation.

ISO 9002 registration indicates that the company has met the highly regarded international standards for quality at these installations.

ISO 9002 is a model for a quality assurance system that was established by the International Organization for Standardization, a worldwide federation of national standards organizations, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The ISO quality management system essentially means that a company clearly defines how it operates by writing procedures for its business processes, does what it has defined by following company procedures, and then demonstrates that it has done so through internal and external audits. Crowley was audited and certified to be in compliance with ISO 9002 standards by ABS Quality Evaluations, Inc., a division of the American Bureau of Shipping.

“Providing a quality service product is very important to Crowley and our customers, said Tom Crowley, Jr., Chairman, President and CEO of Crowley Maritime Corporation, parent company of Crowley Liner Services and Crowley Logistics de Venezuela. While we have been demonstrating our quality of service to customers for many years, achieving ISO 9002 registration helps to document this fact. And it further indicates Crowley’s commitment to continuous improvement, to optimize key processes and to record them through procedures in order to meet our customers’ requirements the first time, every time.”
