Crowley Presents Thomas B. Crowley Memorial Scholarships to Four University of Washington Business School Students
(Seattle; Jan. 14, 2004) – Continuing its support of students wishing to pursue higher education, Crowley Maritime Corporation recently presented four University of Washington business school students with Thomas B. Crowley Sr. memorial scholarships in Seattle, Washington.
Micki Harrison, manager of human resources for Crowley, recognized Emmanuel Augustin, Mesrak Ayele, Cochise S. Moore and Dionne M. Roberson at the business schools annual scholarship breakfast. The four recipients are majoring in finance, information systems, and marketing.
Crowley has provided scholarship aid to UW Business School students since 1998. Preference is given to students who are pursing degrees with a focus in finance, marketing or operations. Students must obtain a predetermined grade point average (GPA), demonstrate community involvement and possess leadership skills identified by the college and by Crowley.
The recipients are chosen each year by the university during the summer semester but arent formally recognized until November. Crowley may extend informal internship opportunities when available as an additional benefit to the scholarship recipients.
Over the years, Crowley Chairman, President and CEO, Tom Crowley Jr., a UW graduate, has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to deserving students at select institutions from Alaska to Puerto Rico in the name of his father, Thomas B. Crowley Sr., who guided the company to extraordinary heights before passing away in 1994.
