Crowley Logistics Inc. Enhances Logistics and International Documentation Capabilities with New Software

(JACKSONVILLE, FL; June 24, 1999) Crowley Logistics Inc., (CLI) announed this week that it has deployed new computer software designed to enhance the company’s logistics and international documentation capabilities.

The program, EMS-2000 Global Passport, provided by Vastera, Inc., gives Crowley Logistics the ability to automate key export management functions for its customers, including the creation of efficient and accurate export documentation, complete shipment tracking, and streamlined compliance with export regulations. This new service better enables CLI to offer value-added services to traditional Crowley customers as well as to shippers using other ocean shipping lines.

“We are one of the first third party logistics providers to acquire this program, which was designed for use by exporters,” said John Hourihan, Vice President and General Manager of Crowley Logistics. “It is an excellent product that is capable of performing more functions than any other comparable software in the marketplace.”

At the core of the product is the EXPORT DETERMINATION tool, which ensures that shipments comply with the regulations of the country from which a Crowley Logistics customer is shipping. The order is prescreened to uncover potential problems early in the process.

Further development of the product is planned.

“We will be working with Vastera to develop similar third party logistics applications,” Hourihan said.

We are excited that the forwarder, broker and 3PL market recognizes the automation value that we provide,” said Arjun Rishi, Vastera President and CEO.
