Crowley Logistics & American Freightways Team Up to Offer LCL Service
(JACKSONVILLE, FL; May 28, 1999) Crowley Logistics and American Freightways announced today that they will team up to provide weekly, fixed-day, less-than-container-load (LCL) service between Canada, the United States, the Caribbean and Central and South America beginning June 14.
American Freightways, one of the leading LTL (less-than-truckload) motor carriers in North America, provides all points direct service in 30 U.S. states and covers 98 percent of Canadas population through a partnership with Day & Ross Transportation.
Crowley Logistics, a subsidiary of Crowley Maritime Corporation, will coordinate the international logistics, with American Freightways performing the domestic transportation.
State-of-the-art information technology applications will allow customers to use the Internet to track the movement of their freight from origin to destination through information exchanged by the companies joint electronic data interchange (EDI) systems.
Many value added services such as advanced arrival notices, imaged delivery receipt and consolidation services will be provided. Marine cargo insurance and freight forwarding services will also be available.
Through this partnership, American Freightways and Crowley Logistics, two of the most respected names in transportation and logistics services, will now be able to offer customers true one-stop shopping for LCL transportation between North America and Central and South America and the Caribbean. Service will be seamless provided through several gateways including, Chicago, Jacksonville, Miami, New Orleans and Secaucus, NJ.
