Crowley Liner Services Transports Carnival Equipment

(Jacksonville, Fla., January 20, 1999) Crowley Liner Services recently transported 110 large pieces of carnival equipment from Port Everglades, Fla., to Puerto Rico for Amusements of America, a South Florida corporation that provides equipment and staffing for family entertainment. The equipment was shipped for use in a 10-week inland circus tour that opened at Loubriel Stadium in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. It will continue in El Balneario El Tuque in Ponce and end at the Arecibo Sports Complex in February.

This year marks Crowley’s fifth year shipping equipment for Amusements of America. Equipment transported aboard Barge 500 from Port Everglades to San Juan included semi-trailers for use as living quarters and office space, and amusement rides.

“We chose Crowley for this shipment because of their ability to position an extra barge and make a special call at Port Everglades, said Jose Rodriguez, Amusements of Americas Logistics Manager. “Crowley is reliable for handling unusual multi-unit equipment, and offers consistent on-time delivery that we have been able to depend on for the last five years.”

“The fair has spent $1 million in advertising in Puerto Rico and the highlight of our tour will be when the “Dame un brake” (Give me a brake) show telecasts live nationwide on the Telemundo Network from our carnival facility” said Rodriguez.

Amusements of Americas equipment is scheduled to be shipped back to the United States in mid-February as the company prepares to participate in a special carnival event to be held in Jacksonville, Fla. Jacksonville will be the first stop in a tour of the eastern United States that will last through November 2000 when the fair returns to Puerto Rico.
