Crowley Debuts Internet Bill of Lading Printing

Service Allows Customers to Print Bills in Their Own Offices

(Jacksonville, FL; February 4, 1999)—Crowley American Transport, an industry leader in information technology and electronic commerce, is now offering customers the opportunity to print bills of lading in their offices via a new Crowley Internet application.

This feature will save customers time and money because those who use it will not have to travel or send couriers to Crowley locations to pick up their bill of lading sets, or wait 24 hours for air parcel delivery services. Instead, bills of lading will be sent via the Internet with a few computer keystrokes instantly as E-mail.

Customers must register with Crowley to utilize this service. They can obtain information and register on-line at Crowleys web site at www.crowley.com/catlad. Once there, customers should click on Crowley American Transport and then follow the prompts.

Key customer system requirements include having an E-mail account that can handle attachments and Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 and Winzip 7.0, both of which can be downloaded via links from the Crowley web site.

Once registered and ready to begin printing bills of lading in their offices, customers will need to do so on terms and conditions forms, which Crowley will provide.

“Customers will find this new product to be very convenient, fast and economical,” said Mary Anne Young, Crowley Vice President of Freight Services.

“No longer will they have to send messengers to Crowley offices to pick up bill of lading sets, or wait an extra day for express mail delivery,” she said. “We can send draft copies right to customers desktops, allowing them to review the documents prior to release. We can transmit original bills of lading, non-negotiable and invoice copies of the bills of lading that shippers authorize us to print at their locations.”
