Bill Pennella Promoted to Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President for Crowley Maritime Corporation
(OAKLAND, Calif.; Sept. 14, 2000) Bill Pennella has been promoted to Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President for Oakland-based Crowley Maritime Corporation (CMC). He continues to report to Tom Crowley, Jr., CMC Chairman, President and CEO.
In his new role, Pennella, who previously served as Executive Vice President with responsibility for Human Resources, Labor Relations, and Purchasing, will also oversee Information Technology and Finance and Accounting functions for the corporation.
Since joining Crowley 13 years ago, Pennella has held positions of increasing responsibility including, Vice President of Human Resources and Senior Vice President of Human Resources/Administration.
This is a well deserved promotion, said Crowley. Bill has been a valued member of our team for many years and I know he will continue to excel with his added responsibilities. This reorganization will also allow me to focus more on the operating units and the long-term growth opportunities for the company.
Pennella has more than 30 years of experience in administration, human resources and labor relations. Prior to joining Crowley, he worked in those fields for two global steamship lines.
Pennella graduated from Rutgers University with degrees in Psychology and Business. He has been married to Joan Pennella for 32 years, and the couple has three grown children.
