Crowley’s Logistics Group Named a Top 100 3PL Provider For Third Consecutive Year

(Jacksonville, Fla.; Aug. 3, 2011) – Crowley Maritime Corporation’s logistics group has been selected as a Top 100 third-party logistics (3PL) provider by Inbound Logistics(IL) magazine for the third consecutive year. The list serves as a qualitative assessment of service providers deemed as the best equipped to meet and surpass readers’ evolving outsourcing needs.
IL editors selected this year’s class of Top 100 3PLs from a pool of more than 300 candidates. The service providers selected are companies that, in the opinion of the editors, offer the diverse operational capabilities and experience to meet readers’ unique supply chain and logistics needs, as well as enabling them scalability.
“In today’s economic climate, it is required that a 3PL produce direct savings for customers by optimizing a transport network, reducing an inventory-to-sales ratio, or advancing the order- to-cash cycle,” said Editor Felecia Stratton. “But it is just as important – in some cases more important – for a logistics partner to act as a business change agent, driving their customers’ ability to match demand for their products more closely to supply, aligning enterprise operational performance to the larger economic trend. That is what Crowley does, and why we are happy to recognize it as a 2011 Top 100 3PL.”
“We are thrilled to once again accept this recognition,” said Crowley’s Steve Collar, senior vice president and general manager of logistics. “It reflects not only the continued growth of the company since we started in 1998, but also the increasingly robust suite of services we are able to offer our customers and the solution-oriented mindset of our employees.”
Distilling the Top 100 is never an easy task, and the process becomes increasingly difficult as more 3PLs enter the market and service providers from other functional areas develop value-added logistics capabilities. Each year, IL editors select the best logistics solutions providers by carefully evaluating submitted information, conducting personal interviews and online research, and comparing that data to readers’ burgeoning global supply chain and logistics challenges.
