(JACKSONVILLE, Fla., July 28, 2004)–Payless ShoeSource honored Crowley’s liner services group last week with its International Partnership Award for service excellence and longstanding mutually beneficial relationship.
Payless’ Michael Cress, international logistics manager and Elisa McNorton, senior lead, international traffic, presented the award to Tom Crowley, Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Crowley Maritime Corporation, at a reception held in Chicago July 21 to celebrate Crowley’s 50th year of service in Puerto Rico.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized for a job well done by a customer, and particularly by a company like Payless, which has such an excellent reputation and does such a great job in their own right,” said Crowley. “I’m pleased that we have been able to contribute to their success in several of their offshore markets.”
Crowley has been Payless’ primary ocean carrier to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands for over eleven years.
Freight originates from Topeka, Kan., and Carson, Calif., and is extremely time sensitive. Crowley utilizes dedicated motor carriers in each lane to ensure Payless freight arrives at destination in a timely manner. With more than 100 stores in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, Payless is the leading retailer of footwear in the region.
Oakland-based Crowley Maritime Corp., founded in 1892, is primarily a family- and employee-owned company engaged in worldwide logistics, liner services, contract towing and transportation, energy support services, ship assist and escort services, vessel management and petroleum and chemical marine transport.
