Crowley began serving the people and businesses of Alaska in 1953, consistently providing unique solutions to Alaska’s logistics and marine transportation challenges as well as handling fuel and freight throughout Alaska’s communities. Over the years, Crowley has acquired several Alaskan companies, one of which (Black Navigation) can trace its fuel and freight-hauling roots back to 1896.
Today, with a storage capacity of more than 75 million gallons, we are one of the unquestioned leaders in the Alaska fuel industry, providing transportation, distribution and sales of petroleum products to more than 280 communities across the state – from the North Slope to Southeast and Southcentral Alaska, along the coast and into some of the most remote inland areas, including communities along the Kuskokwim and Yukon Rivers. Today, we maintain offices and operations across the state, with more than 360 people working to deliver our diverse portfolio of services.
We support the energy industry on the North Slope with summer tug-and-barge sealifts of large production modules, equipment and supplies. Since 1968, more than 330 Crowley barges have delivered more than 1.5 million tons of cargo to the North Slope. Energy companies also utilize Crowley’s engineering and project management services to complete major projects safely and on time and on budget.
In recent years, the Crowley team was the prime engineering and project management contractor for the successful Furie Alaska Kitchen Lights natural gas production platform and pipeline-to-shore installation in Cook Inlet, Alaska.
Over the years we have helped Alaskans overcome the unique logistics and marine transportation challenges that come with doing business here, playing an important role in the state’s business development and while helping to safeguard its environment.
