Tropical Storm Erika Customer Update #1

2015-08-26

Crowley’s corporate emergency management team (CEMT) continues to monitor Tropical Storm Erika, which has formed in the Atlantic. The official forecast has the storm continuing to strengthen into a hurricane by Monday morning, with a projected path towards Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Florida.

Erika is moving toward the west near 17 mph (28 km/h), and a west to west-northwestward motion is expected over the next 48 hours. On the forecast track, the center of Erika will move near or over portions of the Leeward Islands tonight, move near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Thursday, and be near or just north of north coast of the Dominican Republic on Friday.
For safety reasons, Crowley’s U.S. Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands offices will be closed on Thursday, August 27, 2015. We will plan to reopen on Friday for normal business hours after clearance by our corporate emergency management and operation teams, and local port authorities.

Crowley will continue monitoring the storm for potential impacts to Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic operations and will distribute further storm updates as more information becomes available.
