Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Update #3

UPDATE #3 03/17/2020 1600

We continue to monitor the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and its potential effects on the global supply chain. The health and safety of our personnel, whether onshore or aboard our vessels, and the continuity of our operations to you, remains our top priority.

Currently, all Crowley terminals, vessels, and cargo operations remain fully open and operational. This includes our Port Everglades, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Gulfport, Wilmington, Puerto Rico, USVI, Caribbean and Central America locations. While other companies may be reducing hours for their terminals or operations, at this time, Crowley has not.

That said, we understand that this is a difficult time for our customers as some have adjusted business hours or temporarily shuttered operations altogether leaving cargo in limbo. We are working hard on contingencies to provide relief to our customers.

Effective today, March 17, we will be waiving detention and demurrage fees through April 5 for equipment within the US, Central America and Puerto Rico. This relief does not apply to energy charges, onsite or offsite port storage, or third-party related fees, as well as equipment to or from Dominican Republic, Haiti or elsewhere in the Caribbean. If you require special arrangements beyond April 5, are a customer in a location not covered by this waiver, or have other special requests, please contact us so we can discuss potential solutions.

Additionally, we’d like to work together to prevent an accumulation of cargo at both our terminals and at your facility.  If you are not open for operations to receive cargo, please do not continue to request and load equipment until operations resume. This will allow empty container availability needed to maintain the integrity of the critical infrastructure industry, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, including healthcare services, pharmaceutical and food supply.

We appreciate your continued support during these challenging times. We will continue to update you with relevant information as it becomes available. As always, you may contact your sales representative or the Customer Care department at 1-800-CROWLEY with questions or concerns.
