Hurricane Dorian – Update 6

UPDATE 6 – 08/29/2019 – 1000hrs

Safety is Crowley’s No.1 core value. As such, we are taking all appropriate steps to ensure safety of personnel, including our mariners, vessels and your cargo as we actively watch Hurricane Dorian in the Caribbean.

Our offices in Puerto Rico and St. Croix, including the ports, terminals and warehouses, are open and operating with normal business hours. Our offices and terminal in St. Thomas will open at 1200 today. All other Crowley locations within the Caribbean and stateside, including Port Everglades and Jacksonville, Fla., are currently unaffected by the storm and are conducting normal operations.

To ensure a safe transit in advance of the storm, El Coquí (SAL9069S) will depart Jacksonville for San Juan, Puerto Rico early, at 1800, on Friday. In order to ensure a timely departure, the cutoff for dry cargo and for all documentation is 1200 on Friday. The cutoff for refrigerated cargo is 1400 on Friday.

The storm is currently located north of Puerto Rico with maximum sustained winds near 85 mph. Dorian is moving towards the northwest near 13 mph, a motion that’s expected to continue through Friday before shifting west-northwestward into the weekend. Strengthening is forecast during the next few days.

As the storm track continues to move towards the eastern coast of Florida, we will provide appropriate updates on its impact, if any, on your supply chain. We will continue to coordinate with our vessels to keep them clear of the storm, and with our shoreside personnel to make appropriate preparations at our facilities in order to protect people, equipment and cargo.
