Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program (C-TPAT)
Developed immediately following the September 11th attacks, the
C-TPAT program aims to push out and protect U.S. borders to the
point of origin for incoming cargo. What does all this mean to our
customers? As one of the first sea carriers to join C-TPAT, our
cargo is automatically available for priority entry and clearance.
So if Customs does require inspection, it will be scheduled before
the cargo of non-program participants. Not only will your goods
receive the highest degree of security during shipment, they'll also
receive quick transfer and delivery from our terminal ports. To
achieve C-TPAT status, Crowley worked closely with U.S. Customs to
further enhance security procedures throughout our supply chain
process. For instance, we increased the physical security of our
terminals and vessels at each of our ports. Our employees undergo
strict background checks and screening. We ensure correct procedural
and documentation transfer. And we've safeguarded our information
systems from unauthorized use. To ensure cargo integrity during
transfer movements, we also inspect containers before loading in
foreign ports, while at sea and once again after discharge when they
reach their destination. Plus Crowley makes sure there are Company,
Facility and Port Security Officers stationed at all locations in
order to work with Customs to further protect your cargo.
