Crowley offers a full range of logistical support services in some of the most
difficult places to reach whether off or on shore. In Alaska, Crowley has been
providing transportation solutions for exploration and production challenges for
over 50 years.
For example on the North Slope of Alaska, Crowley has developed unique systems for
transporting cargos and personnel to remote road less areas, across Alaskas fragile
arctic tundra. Crowley tackled the problem of all-terrain transport by developing
specialized vehicles called CATCOs that essentially float across the surface with
low-pressure air bags. These tires help distribute the weight over a large area
thus minimizing terrain impact. Offshore, Crowley provides marine services to all waters
of Alaska including the ice-infested waters of Alaskas Arctic Ocean, the Beuafort Sea.
