Valdez, Alaska Ship Assist and Escort

Crowley owns and operates one of the most advanced fleets of ship assist and escort tugs as well as oil spill response barges. Tugs in Valdez, Alaska assist large tankers and provide both tethered and untethered escort services through Prince William Sound. Crowley tugs in these areas are also outfitted for firefighting services and barges based in strategically located positions through the sound provide oil spill response services.

In accordance with our union labor agreements, the Inland Boatmans Union (engineers and unlicensed positions) and Master's, Mate's and Pilots (licensed wheelhouse positions) union represent all vessel positions.

West Coast Ship Assist and Escort

Crowley owns and operates one of the most advanced fleets of ship assist and escort tugs in the world--escorting and docking tankers, container ships, and other vessels as they enter and depart harbors. We offer harbor towing services in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Oakland, California and in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington.

In accordance with our union labor agreements, the Seafarers International Union (SIU), Inland Boatmans Union (IBU), or Master's, Mate's and Pilots (MMP) union represent all vessel positions, depending upon region of operation. The following positions are dispatched from the union halls for harbor escort service work: Master, Mate, Deckhand, and Engineer/Engine utility.
