Frosty Leonard, Director, Operations
"Crowley has helped me build a career for the long haul. They recruited me prior to my graduation from the academy and since then, I've worked for them in Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Seattle and Valdez finding challenges and advancement opportunities all along the way. Currently, I have operational responsibility for Crowley equipment in the world's most sophisticated escort and response system. The door is wide open with Crowley, you just have to decide whether or not you're going to walk through it."

Alaska, Ocean Rangers |
In 2006, Alaska voters passed Ballot Measure 2 creating an Ocean Ranger program in the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) which became law on December 17, 2006. Alaska is the first and only state to require U.S. Coast Guard licensed marine engineers or graduates of a Marine Safety and Environmental Protection program on board vessels to act as independent observers monitoring State environmental and marine discharge requirements. Ocean Rangers also check that passengers and crew are protected from improper sanitation, health, and safety practices. This program is managed by the Commercial Passenger Vessel Environmental Compliance Program, which was created in 2001 to monitor cruise ships in Alaskan waters.
Crowley manages the Ocean Ranger program for the Alaska DEC to provide USCG Licensed Marine Engineers or Marine Safety and Environmental Protection degree holders whom travel on board cruise ships throughout the summer and act as independent observers monitoring State environmental and marine discharge requirements. They also check that passengers and crew are protected from improper sanitation, health and safety practices.

Western Alaska Fuel Distribution |
Crowley has served the people and businesses of Alaska's Arctic and Coastal area since 1896. We serve the State of Alaska from the North Arctic Slope to South Central Alaska, coastal communities, and inland communities including those along the Kuskoswim and Yukon rivers. The primary sea-going service Crowley provides in Alaska involves the transportation and distribution of petroleum to these communities.
Included in this operation are tugs and barges that navigate Alaskan coasts and rivers carrying petroleum during the summer months, typically between May and October each year.
