1.Provides direction and support to West and Gulf Coast Business Units¿ operations in the day-to-day implementation of the HSSE requirements of the Management System.
2.Performs Management System assessments of company offices and vessels.
3.Coordinates the development and implementation of HSSE regulatory-required training with the People Development Learning Department (PDL) and assists with training delivery.
4.Implements root-cause incident investigation to identify problems, root causes, corrective actions, and publish occurrence reports. Assists operations with the investigation, publication and analyses of near miss incidents.
5.Maintains Business Units¿ compliance with the requirements of Customer¿s HSSE environmental and safety program tracking (ISNet).
6.Functions as project on-site HSSE manager on an as needed basis.
7.Maintains current revisions of Corporate and Business Units¿ HSSE programs according to customer, local, sate, and federal requirements.
8.Maintains ongoing CMS communications with U.S. Coast Guard, OSHA, and local fire departments to establish a positive and professional working relationship in the area of health, safety and environmental.
8.Participates as the Safety Officer in the Company¿s Incident Management Team.
9.Performs other tasks as necessary and assigned.
EDUCATION:
Four-year Bachelors Degree in marine transportation with Merchant Marine license preferred. Certified Safety Professional or equivalent HSSE experience highly desirable.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three to five years maritime experience with a working knowledge of marine safety, health & environmental protection programs, and USCG and OSHA requirements. General marine experience in the tug and barge industry experience is preferred.
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Must comply with all work rules including those pertaining to safety and health. Will work in both an office setting and on marine vessels. At times, will work in extreme temperature, dust and dirt. Occasionally may be exposed to dangerous conditions or environment, and may be required to be away from the Seattle areas for periods of time.
