Crowley is acquiring and deploying the industry’s most energy-efficient and environmentally friendly refrigerated containers
Crowley recently invested over $30 million on new refrigerated “reefer” equipment for the Central America and Caribbean trades and our Speed to Market services. This state-of-the art equipment feature the most efficient and environmentally friendly technology, to ensure Crowley and customers reduce their environmental footprint. Built with a digital scroll compressor, Crowley’s Thermo King Magnum® refrigeration units use the environmentally friendly refrigerant, R-404A, which reduces overall energy consumption by an average of 30 percent. Plus, it has the lowest Total Equivalent Warming Impact (TEWI) of any refrigerated units, all while holding box temperatures at -31°F. Crowley’s Carrier EliteLINE™ refrigeration units also offer a one-of-a-kind scroll compressor technology (inspired by the chambered nautilus, a unique shellfish), which features a patented wrap geometry. The walls are tapered, so they’re thicker than standard air conditioning spirals. This makes the EliteLINE both incredibly efficient and reliable. Plus, it provides a greater capacity without increasing frame size. The EliteLINE uses R-134a, which ensures a low rating for both GWP and TEWI as well as zero ODP. So not only does your cargo remain stabilized — even under extreme conditions at sea — but it’s traveling in a container that is environmentally friendly as well.
