Truckload Intermodal Cost Indexes for the 1st Quarter of 2017

04/28/2017

For the first quarter 2017, the CASS Index, which is being used to monitor and evaluate U.S. Inland rates, reflected an average of 124.4 for Truckload and 133.6 for Intermodal (rail). Compared to the established baseline of 125.2 for Truckload and 126.6 for Intermodal (rail), the Truckload Index decreased by -0.64% and the Intermodal (rail) increased by 5.53%. Therefore, effective June 1st, 2017, we will be increasing our tariff and contract Intermodal (rail) rates by 5.53%. The Truckload rates will not change since the first quarter average against the baseline was less than +/- 2%. The indexes can be found here: CASS Indexes .

For the second quarter 2017 review, the baseline index for the Intermodal (rail) will adjust to 133.6 and the Truckload will remain the same at 125.2. The next review period is set for July 2017. You can view the requirements and Index history here
