Inland Cost Monitoring – November 2018

For October 2018, the CASS Index, which is being used to monitor and evaluate U.S. Inland rates monthly, reflected an average of 143.4 for Truckload. This is an increase of 3.84% over the previous established baseline of 138.1.  As a result, tariff and contract motor rates will increase by 3.84% on January 1, 2019. The CASS Indexes can be found here.

For the same period, the Department of Energy’s retail on-highway diesel prices all types index monthly average, which is being used to determine the Intermodal Fuel Charge, was $3.365. Therefore, the Intermodal Fuel Percentage will increase to 28% on January 1, 2019. The requirements and index history are available here.

The next review is set for December 2018 after which an appropriate adjustment will be made if necessary.
